Burbank Water and Power has set the date for a class that will explore the benefits that often go hand in hand with choosing native plants for local gardens.
The session, which will be the first part of a series of workshops, will provide information, tips, and tricks for incorporating native species into a home landscape. There is no charge being applied to participate, but advanced registration is required.
The learners will be introduced to a variety of topics, and the importance of creating a good soil bed will begin the learning. Attendees will be taught methods of holding rainwater on their property. Xeriscaping, which is gardening using species that require little water, will also be discussed. Biodiversity will be covered, and the limited use of irrigation is also on the agenda.
A workshop series offers the public the chance to learn about a particular topic. Print shops can prepare Copies of handouts for distribution, as well as Posters and other materials that lets the public know when and where it will be held.
The Watershed Wise Landscaping class is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, and it will begin at 6:00 pm. Those who register will be able to access a video online so they can start their learning in advance. It will be held at 150 N Third Street at the Community Service Building.
