Burbank area workshop to share seed starting secrets

Seed starting is one of the tricks used by savvy gardeners to obtain plants not commonly found in the trade, and an upcoming workshop will give Burbank residents a chance to try their hand at some of these techniques.

The workshop will be aimed at those who are interested in propagating native California flora, and the facilitator will be Alejandro Lemus. Both professional horticulturalists and home gardeners may find it helpful, and when they head for home, the learners will each walk away with a flat of seeds they have sown themselves.

This session, which will include both indoor and outdoor learning, will introduce the basics of seed physiology and how to determine if seeds are viable for cultivation. Germination cues and a variety of pre-treatments, such as scarification, will be taught, and a discussion of sowing and aftercare will wrap the class. Everyone is asked to wear close-toed shoes and bring water to drink, and sun protection is highly recommended.

When organizing a learning event, the planners may decide to order Promotional Products to distribute. A Print professional will have lots of options for such products.

This activity, which has been organized by the Theodore Payne Foundation, will be on offer at 10459 Tuxford Street in Sun Valley. It is scheduled for July 15th at 9:00 am.
