For the 14th year, residents can spend their Martin Luther King Day with a day of service giving back to their community.
OneOC is partnering with local agencies to present volunteer opportunities to interested residents that help to correct critical issues in the community.
Project toolkits are available for groups that can be completed for MLK Day on Monday, January 21. Local projects include diversity discussions, letter writing campaigns for Blue Star families, youth ‘LemonAid’ stands, and canned food drives for Veterans First.
Volunteers can sign up to be project service leaders at the OneOC website. Leader training will be held from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm on Wednesday, January 16, at OneOC in Santa Ana.
Signature OneOC MLK Jr., Day projects include volunteering at the Orange County Food Bank, THINK together, Second Harvest Food Bank, Veteran’s first (helps homeless veterans), and Earthroots.
Nonprofit members of OneOC are welcome to host their own service projects. To coordinate an activity, or for more information, call Ursula Walsh, director of volunteer services at (714) 953-5757 ext. 215.
