Express low-fare bus company Megabus will soon be offering service from the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center.
In November, the Megabus Company announced it will run for routes between Anaheim and the cities of Oakland, San Jose, and San Francisco. The company anticipates ridership for those taking the bus to Anaheim to reach 40,000 its first year.
A subsidiary of Coach USA, Megabus will have a fare system much like that of airlines, with varying ticket prices. Generally, the earlier tickets are purchased the less they will cost. Each bus on each route trip will have at least one $1 fare for the lucky traveler who gets to it first.
Buses hold 81 passengers and feature free WiFi, restrooms, and a power outlet at every seat. Four laptop-friendly table seats, four upper-deck seats near the front window, and two balcony seats adjacent to the stairs will be deemed premium seats and cost riders an extra $1 to $5.
In 2007, Megabus made its first attempt to establish itself in California, and achieved success in doing so five years later, perhaps thanks to increased marketing. Branding and name recognition are two functions with which printing companies often assist their customers.
More than 120 U.S. and Canadian cities are now served by Megabus. Service for Anaheim will start this Saturday, December 6, making it the eighth California city served by the company.
