Over 300 Disney volunteers from Disney, the city of Anaheim, and Anaheim Family YMCA worked with the KaBoom company to build a playground in Barton Park for disabled kids. Consturction took place on January 26, and was completed in a mere six hours.
This is the 11th Disney sponsored playground by KaBoom located in Anaheim, and the first ramped playground specifically for children with disabilities.
The specialized equipment on the playground helps all children play no matter what their ability level is. The playground has special equipment and features for the visually impaired. KaBoom believes that play is essential to the development of every child.
The Disney Resort was responsible for adding these accessible features to the new playground. The CastABLE resource group participated in this project- this Disney group makes the experience of disabled children at Disney inclusive and relevant.
The playground was designed by ideas and sketches from 600 students in Anaheim, and is built to service 600 children. Anaheim has Print shops that design Corporate Gifts for fundraising projects and events like this.
KaBoom designs playgrounds for children with auditory disabilities, autism, cognitive disorders, mobility, and visual impairment, along with a range of other disabilities, aiming to make play as inclusive and diverse as possible.
The new playground is located in Barton Park at 1926 W Clearbrook Lane and is open to the public.
