Santa Claus Parade kicks off Christmas in Pickering

Saturday, November 10 marked the official beginning of the Christmas season in the Durham region, with the local Santa Claus Parades heading through Pickering, Ajax, Oshawa, Bownmanille, and the rest of Durham to inaugurate the season.

The ‘Rudolph and His North Pole Friends’ themed parade began at 10:00 am and toured Pickering, ending at 11:30 am at the Pickering Town Centre. The Kinsmen and Kinette clubs of Pickering hosted the parade. In two weeks, City Hall and Esplanade Park will also perform its annual tree-lighting ceremony. Both highly anticipated Christmas events are expected to draw large crowds.

Other communities in the Durham region also held, or will soon hold, their own Santa Claus parades, drawing as many as 15,000 visitors in marches, music, crafts, tree-lighting, post parade parties, and firework displays. Ajax, Bowmanville, Oshawa, Newcastle, Uxbridge, and Whitby put on similar celebrations. All of the colorful parades were, or are expected to be, actively promoted to the public through printed advertisements in newspapers and on billboards throughout the community.

The holiday season is an important one for local advertisers and presents a plethora of advertising opportunities for local Print companies based in Pickering and the Durham region.

The best of the season is a busy time for retailers, who get a strong boost in sales from printed advertising of local holiday sales through mail and in-store flyer printing. Local Posters also actively promote holiday events, like concerts, plays, and family friendly events throughout Pickering and the rest of the community.
