This May will see the return of Pickering’s major pet festival Petapolooza, this time in a new location.
The festival features a variety of vendors, activities, and contests all aimed at pet owners and their furry friends. Petapolooza has grown to become one of the largest outdoor events in the city, and this year will see the festival shift to a new site to allow for further expansion. The new location will be Pickering’s Esplanade Park, located near Glenanna and Valley Farm Road. The 2023 Petapolooza will include over 50 exhibitors and rescue groups, with confirmed exhibitors including AngelKerr Dog Training & Pet Services, Humane Society of Durham Region, and Pawsitive Animal Wellness.
Petapolooza will feature a variety of games and live entertainment, including the acrobatic SuperDogs, who will be performing three times throughout the day. Local businesses use events such as this to connect with pet owners through promotional items, with give-aways of pet bandanas and food highlighted in event descriptions. Money raised will go towards the construction of a permanent animal shelter in Pickering. The 2019 edition of Petapolooza raised over $20,000, and this year’s event is looking to top it.
The 2023 edition of Petapolooza will take place on Saturday, May 13 in Esplanade Park. Admission will be free for children under 12, seniors over 55, and pets.
