Some local residents are upset with the development plans of Pickering’s Stonepath Circle, prompting a public meeting.
A section of Pickering residents argue the design would fit poorly in the intended neighborhood and voiced concerns at a recent May 7 public meeting over the height of the intended homes, the possible 30-foot frontage, the design of the lot, and the number of homes in the design plan.
Many of the current residents expected only three homes would be constructed, citing that the current design does not fit the neighborhood and that there are a lack of water service connections for all houses.
According to Pickering’s development’s current plan, the homes would have frontages of 30 feet as opposed to the semi-detached townhouses and single family homes with 50-lot frontages. Some residents feel that the current plan was simply proposed to maximize the land available to the builder, with no regard for the neighborhood’s current character.
The future development plans for Stonepath Circle are far from resolved, as further investigations into the number of houses and frontages are still to be completely analyzed.
Locals who feel strongly opposed to the proposal may look to gain assistance from local Print services. Banner, flyer and poster printing may help them to raise awareness of the issue and garner support for their cause. It may also be beneficial for a printing company to produce leaflets and agendas for future meetings on the issue.
A report on the proposal will return to the Pickering’s planning and development committee for a future meeting.
