Springvale to explore new green waste options in workshop
Residents of Springvale are invited to learn how to help dramatically reduce the amount of food and green waste heading to local landfills in a new workshop run by the Greater Dandenong Council.
Each year, tons of food and green waste head into Australian landfills, and the new green lid garden waste bin offered to Springvale residents can help make a significant impact on the waste issues faced by their community.
Run by the Greater Dandenong Council’s Waste Education Officer, this new workshop will see attendees learn more about food and green waste recycling and the green lid bin changes, which rolled out in the area throughout April.
As part of the Back to Earth initiative, which runs across 27 Victorian city councils, the changes to green lid bin processing allows for food scraps to be added and ultimately turned into high-quality compost for use by Victorian farmers. Public education initiatives such as this can benefit from brochure printing to help supply residents with key facts and information.
The Springvale workshop will allow participants to learn more about the process and clarify restrictions concerning what kinds of waste can and cannot be added to green lid bins under the new changes.
The Food and Garden Waste workshop will run at Springvale Library’s Community Hub on August 9th at 3:30pm. More information and links to book are available from the Greater Dandenong Council website.
