Springvale parks to receive major upgrades

Springvale residents are set to enjoy increased recreational activities for their children this year with two new playgrounds to be established.

In the May issue of the Greater Dandenong Council news, it was reported that new playgrounds were to be created in Springvale's Regent and Olinda Avenue reserves as well as another at Keysborough's Geoffrey Carson Reserve.

The work is planned as part of the new Council initiative `park master plans' which advocates significant upgrades in recreational facilities and opportunities for residents across the city.

During the past 24 months, Keysborough's Tatterson Park, Noble Park's Ross Reserve and Dandenong Park have all seen major works carried out with more still to come.

In addition, work has started on key improvements at Keysborough's Frederick Wachter Reserve, Springvale's Warner Reserve, Noble Park's Parkfield Reserve and Springvale South's Burden Park.

The extent of the upgrades varies at each location and ranges from the planting of 100 trees and establishment of a central wetland area at Frederick Wachter Reserve to the construction of a multi-purpose court and addition of fitness equipment at Burden Park.

Many parks such as these are often featured as key local attractions in brochure printing promoting the area.

Smaller parks such as Amersham Reserve, Markham Court and Coomoora Reserve have not been forgotten with improvements such as new paths, tree plantings, seats, landscaping and playgrounds installed.
