Springvale newspaper puts Brief Encounter tickets up for grabs
A glamorous retelling of the classic story 'Brief Encounter' by Noel Coward is coming to the Athenaeum Theatre, with Leader Newspapers in Springvale offering 30 double passes to lucky readers.
The show is being staged along with the Melbourne Festival, in a performance that switches back and forth between film and live theatre. The performance also utilises footage that was inspired by the classic 1945 film version by David Lean, taking audiences back to the golden age of the silver screen.
Melbourne audiences will be treated to the production that inspired the imagination of Broadway and the West End, in a show that was nominated for two Tony and four Olivier awards.
The show is being staged by Kneehigh Theatre, which is highly regarded by many as Britain's premier theatre company. The show has been wowing audiences since its Australian debut in Adelaide on September 10.
The show depicts England during the pre-war era of 1938-39, in a story that revolves around a chance meeting at the Milford Junction railway station. The unique performance switches between black and white screen footage, theatre and song. Coward's classy and humorous songs continue to shine.
The prizes offered by The Leader of official passes to the show are valued at $79, and are for the performance on October 9. To enter the competition, visit Leader Newspapers. Bookings for the show can also be made at www.melbournefestival.com.au or by calling Ticketek on 1300 795 012
