Volunteers needed for park cleanup

Braeside residents are being encouraged to go along and help clean up their local park as part of this year’s Clean Up Australia Day.

The nationwide event is held over three days, one for schools, one aimed at businesses, and one being the big Clean Up Australia Day itself, which can take place in any open space.

Braeside residents can join the Friends of Braeside Park to collect litter and tidy the green space, which is popular among locals and visitors.

Residents, community groups and businesses can also create their own cleanup event which can be open to the pubic or private like the event organised by the suburb’s Officeworks branch, which has also signed up to clean around its offices during the business day being held on Tuesday March 1st

Poster printing and flyer printing offer a good way to advertise a community event and increase volunteer numbers, and site supervisors will receive a special kit containing promotional material.

Clean Up Australia Day is held across the country and, in the 25 years it has been running, more than 302,000 tonnes of rubbish has been collected.

The park clean up will be held on Sunday, March 6 from 10:00 am to midday, and volunteers should meet at the Visitors’ Centre.
