Small shops to get boost in Braeside

Businesses in Braeside and around the City of Kingston are being encouraged to sign up for the Support Small Business Day initiative next month.

The scheme was developed by the Victorian Government and is designed to promote small businesses, encouraging residents to use their local stores rather than head to out of town malls or shop online.

To help firms get the most from the day, Kingston City Council is offering promotional opportunities to shops that sign up.

The council has developed a new app for smartphones and tablets that will feature details of all businesses registered for the day and any special deals they are offering. Companies will also be featured on the Kingston Business website and Facebook page. The council is also offering assistance to company owners to help them make the most of the event, and learn more about ways to promote their products and services.

As well as getting involved with the latest hi-tech promotions, shops may also like to think about traditional advertising such as flyer printing or poster printing to promote their special offers.

Any business with a shop front can register. Firm owners should think about signing up as soon as possible and starting their publicity campaign.

Support Small Business Day takes place on Saturday, October 4th. For more information, visit the Small Business Victoria website.
