Braeside seniors will be among many residents throughout the city to take part in a fascinating range of events as part of the month-long Victorian Seniors Festival.
Event Catalogues list an extensive programme including recreational activities, concerts, tours, exercise and dancing.
City of Kingston CEO John Nevins said there was no better place to take part in the festival’s 2016 theme of celebrating diversity than in Kingston, which hosts residents who hail from more than 150 countries.
He said the festival programme will give people a great opportunity to experience the diversity of activities and groups first hand.
Nevins added that the Mentone Activity Hub will host the 2016 festival launch and also a colourful array of displays and activities showcasing the community.
He said there will be many events held between now and the end of October, including a seniors’ bike riding event at Braeside Park and a formal monthly luncheon to be hosted by the Freccia Azzurra Club in Braeside.
The Victoria Seniors Festival is now into its 34th year and is a celebration of the contribution made by the State’s one million older residents aged 60 years and more.
Nevins said people will be celebrating across the state, with a programme including everything from food tours, concerts and the arts, to sports and entertainment.
The celebration begins tomorrow and continues until next Saturday, October 8.
