Alt-rockers to perform in Braeside area

A rock duo closely connected to the Riot Grrrl musical movement will soon play live in Melbourne with a one-night show.

Braeside music lovers with a taste for alternative rock will get a chance to see Sleater-Kinney in concert this May.

Part of the headline making Riot Grrrl movement, the duo from Washington USA recorded their eponymous debut in Australia in the early ‘90s. Now, three decades after forming, Sleater-Kinney are returning for a tour that includes a single show at the Melbourne Forum.

Combining progressive lyrics with indie and punk rock sounds, the group consists of Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker. Together, they have earned admiration and acclaim from critics in the music press, and a loyal following of reverent fans.

The upcoming show in Australia will mark the first time that Sleater-Kinney have played in the nation’s venues since 2016. The national tour has been planned to coincide with the launch of their 11th album to date, dubbed “Little Rope”.

Sleater-Kinney will now be live onstage at the Forum Melbourne on Sunday, May 19. The popular venue is sited on Flinders Street in Melbourne, and the gig will begin at 7pm.

The event is suitable for those aged 18 and over.
