The reinvention of the printer, which happened in the early 1990’s, has changed the way we see Print; it has changed the way we do print and it has most definitely changed the way in which we pay for print. Digital printing is not only cheaper than its predecessor; it is more accessible and adaptable to your personal intricate needs. By combining your home personal computer with images (either from your phone, camera, the internet or your webcam) as well as a printer, individuals now could do low cost, high quality projects in the comfort of their own home.

Analogue printing, as known as the more mechanical procedure, had a significant impact on society today. A large portion of Books in libraries were printed by using more or less that same concept that Johannes Gutenberg created when he made the first mechanical printer in the mid 1400’s. This enabled people to save their work and spread not only books, but ideologies. This sparked a need for more information and creation of information. Suddenly everyone wanted to own and know more. This inevitably led to the mass production of books to stimulate this demand.

With all the advancement and advantages that printing introduced, problems arose and were prevalent to society. Printing was not available to the masses as the process ordered for large financial investments that were not attainable to the average consumer. Even if the funds were attainable it was necessary to justify it by creating a business around the machine.

Digital printing gave the ability to print to the mass market as anyone with a personal computer could buy a reasonably priced printer to do home projects. Digital printers are currently almost as popular as personal computers themselves.
