The digital age of print also bridged the geographical gap designers and printers experienced. Due to unstable phone lines faxes would, on average, produce a low quality image to the receiver which would then need to be reproduced. This process was evidently counterproductive. Thus, the use of digital images was a breakthrough in print media. Designers can now receive images by e-mail and do the needed work on them as well as send them back in a timely fashion.
