To Print or not to print? That is the question. More specifically, should you print on both sides of paper or on one side only. This is a big debate when it comes to Business Cards which have traditionally been printed on one side only, but it has been found that the unprinted side is just valuable in ‘real estate’ as the printed side – that is, if it is adequately used.
It however means that you have to be twice as thorough when it comes to the images and content on your card. Throwing away a batch of incorrectly printed business cards is at its best, a rather painful exercise.
The same applies to document printing, especially when preparing large volumes of documents.
Some tips on how to preparing your business cards and documents for printing
- Ensure that all information on your business card is proofread. Titles, names, contact details and addresses should always be checked and re-checked for business cards.
- If you have an unusually shaped business card, double check the bleed and crop marks (these show the printer where to cut) before sending through to the printers. The same also applies to general documents. Consult with the printers on this if necessary.
- Decide how many graphics and how much content you want on your business card. You can always create a design that cleverly uses colour (in accordance with your logo) in a cost effective way.
- Embossing and foil stamping are ways of adding glamour and drawing more attention to your business cards.
- When printing double-sided documents, ensure that everything lines up properly on the cards and that the margins are the same on both sides.
It is always important to check the print job upon receipt. Make sure it is what you requested and that you are happy with it. Minuteman Press in Germiston is able to assist with design and printing of documents and business card – contact us today!
