Spring cleaning in the works in Kent
Although winter is still having its way, Kent officials are planning an event to welcome warmer weather.
The Kent Downtown Partnership (KDP) is looking for groups, families, and individuals who would like to help clean up the city’s downtown as Kent gets ready for spring. The clean-up will take place along Meeker, as well as the downtown area surrounding it. Volunteers will help pick up recycling and trash, control or trim vegetation, sweep, and handle similar tasks. This is an opportunity for participants to make new friends and join with old ones. When events like this are planned, organizers can use flyer printing to create task lists for participants.
Due to the ongoing health crisis, established protocols will be followed. Participants will need to wear masks and maintain a minimum of six feet of separation, and are encouraged to wear a pair of garden gloves if they own them. Groups who want to work together must be members of the same family; if the workers are not related, they will need to work in an area where the required distance can be maintained.
Organizers will supply equipment and tools, as well as disposable gloves. They also have some garden gloves they can loan to participants, but prefer they bring their own. The event will go on rain or shine, so appropriate clothing is encouraged.
The clean-up is set for March 5 at Kent’s Kherson Park, from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.
