Spring brings Arlington Palooza

Arlington Palooza 2020 will be coming to Alcova Heights Park toward the end of April. This will be a free family-friendly event.

Face painting, inflatables and bubble activities will entertain the younger children, while on-site Laser Tag and Light Up Whack-o-Mole should keep the older ones busy. Everyone can take part in the lawn games and art activities. Community groups will have information about their missions, programs and services.

Arlington Art Truck will have an interactive exhibit. The exhibit created by Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr.is a 60th anniversary tribute to “The Desegregation of Arlington Lunch Counters.”

Live entertainment will include The Sunshine Gang playing rock from the ‘60s to the ‘80s, and 14-year-old local girl Sarah Baumgarten performing her original social justice songs. Arlington’s 5th Avenue Blue will then take to the stage to perform their version of rock classics. Local food trucks will be on site selling food items and treats.

Through the years, photos taken during the Arlington Palooza have been posted on the event website, and parents of the kids in the photos have had the opportunity to take pictures like them to local Print shops to be made into duplicates. The photos could then be sent to relatives and friends.

Arlington Palooza 2020 will be April 25 from noon until 4:30 pm at the park, located at 901 South George Mason Drive.
