Signature Theater holds virtual events

Arlington’s Signature Theater has three virtual events and one streamed performance coming in February.

Starting tomorrow (February 2) and continuing to March 26, subscribers can enjoy an online revue, “Simply Sondheim.” This will be a special musical event for the Signature Theater created with the permission of composer Stephen Sondheim. Over 30 songs will be presented by 12 well-known Broadway and Signature Theater favorite artists. A 16-piece orchestra will be accompanying the performers in songs such as “Fishing the Hat,” “The Worst Pies in London,” and “Goodbye for Now.”

The first of the three February virtual live Masterclasses will be this Thursday, February 4 at 7:00 pm. This will be “Personalizing the Song” with Nova Y. Payton. Payton will teach a group of students how to make songs their own. The class is geared to college students, the general public, and aspiring actors, and includes a question-and-answer session afterwards. The session will be free.

On February 11, Anne Nesmith will be discussing crafting and creating wigs in her “The World of Wigs” Masterclass. She will cover everything from weave to weft. She, too, will hold a question-and-answer session after her talk.

Later, on February 25, Rachel Leigh Dolan will present a total body experience with emphasis on storytelling and musicality in her Musical Theater Masterclass. Viewers can join her in “You Can Leave Your Hat at Home,” a fun choreography combo appropriate for all dance levels.
