Starting next month, the Phillips Collection is hosting two exhibits dedicated to two of the 20th century's best known photographers.
‘Man Ray - Human Equations: A Journey from Mathematics to Shakespeare’ is set to feature more than one hundred photographs from Ray’s ‘Shakespeare Equations’ series. In addition, the original mathematical models he used will be on display. This exhibition was organized by the Phillips Collection and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
Showing at the same time is the exhibition ‘Hiroshi Sugimoto - Conceptual Forms and Mathematical Models’. It will feature six photographs and three sculptures. One notable work on display will be ‘Surface of Revolution with Constant Negative Curvature’. This is set up as a contrast to the Man Ray exhibition.
Both of these are sure to appeal to fans of photography and the graphic arts, not to mention those who work for area Print companies. It is likely that people will come from all over the area, including Arlington, to view these photographs.
The exhibits are both showing at the Phillips Collection from February 7 to May 10, and those buying tickets are asked to pick a time period to visit. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and free for those under the age of 18. The venue is open Tuesday through Sunday.
