Golfers swing for fun and local charity

The 21st Annual Community Cup Golf Classic will be played in a couple of weeks into October.

This will be an opportunity for local golfers to enjoy the outdoors, share in friendly competition, and donate to the Arlington Community Foundation. This event will be celebrating the organization’s 25th anniversary.

The format will be a captain’s choice of Scramble or Super Ball. Scramble requires all members of the team to hit a tee shot at every hole and all players play from the best shot spot. Super Ball, on the other hand, involves each golfer to hitting their own ball for the entire round. The lowest score for that round is the team score.

Foursomes can be made up of all men, all women, or mixed groups. Prizes will be awarded to the first three place teams, with special prizes going to the player who has the longest drive, and the golfer whose tee shot gets closet to the pin.

The tournament will close with cocktails, a buffet, and an awards ceremony. Guests will no doubt be bringing their digital Business Cards and possibly conducting a little networking.

The tournament will be Tuesday, October 10 at the Washington Golf & Country Club, 3017 N. Glebe Road, Arlington. The Shotgun Start will begin at 11:30 am with lunch at 12:00 noon. The cocktails, dinner and ceremony will be on the Main House Terrace from 5:30 until 7:30 pm.
