Cultural festival celebrates 5th year anniversary

Around the World Cultural Food Festival will celebrate its 5th anniversary at the end of August. Over 25,000 guests are expected to attend.

The free event will feature cuisine, merchandise and entertainment from 30 countries across the globe.

Only one restaurant per country has been chosen to educate, showcase and teach about that country’s culture through food. Some of these restaurants include Indonesian cuisine from BliMan Kitchen, Lebanese and Greek food from Sara Festivals, Tacos Mama Chava for Mexican food, and Ekiben representing Thailand.

Artisans and craftspeople have been selected to showcase and vend their original works. Guests at events such as this one often gather artisans’ Business Cards as souvenirs.

Entertainers will show cultural expression through vocals, dance, instruments, and theatrical performances. Performers will be given 10 to 15 minutes to interact with the audience through traditional dance lessons or the like.

VIP tickets will include seating in a large tent with good viewing of the cultural performances. Arlington VIP ticket holders will be also be allowed in special lines for quicker food service.

This year, as in the past, the festival will donate some of the proceeds to a children’s arts and music organization.

The Around the World Cultural Food Festival will take place on Pennsylvania Avenue between 13th and 14th streets at Freedom Plaza in downtown DC on August 29. The event will open at 11:00 am and close around 7:00 pm.
