Arlington readies for Winter Fun

The Arlington Chorale will be presenting its second concert of its 52nd season this weekend in a performance titled ‘Winter Fun’.

The program Brochures say that the performance will get started with ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’ arranged by Malcolm Williamson. That will be followed by Dan Forrest’s ‘There is Faint Music’, Rutter’s ‘Angel’s Carol’ and ‘The 12 Days After Christmas’. The audience will be asked to participate in the traditional Dona Nobis Pacem and then enjoy the Vaughan William’s ‘Wassail Song’.

The latter part of the program will include ‘The Road Home’ by Stephen Paulus and an Italian Christmas song ‘O Bambino’. Next the chorale will sing the Katherine Davis arrangement of ‘Little Drummer Boy’ and a number of Ivor Davies excerpts. The finale will be a rousing rendition of the ‘12 Days of Christmas’.

The Arlington Chorale is composed of chorus members from Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia that has a repertoire of sacred, folk, jazz, and classical musical selections.

Winter Fun will be tomorrow, December 10, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, on George Mason Drive at 4444 Arlington Blvd. in Arlington. The performance will begin at 4:00 pm. Although the event will be free and open to the public, and as the Arlington Chorale is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, donations will be greatly appreciated by the organizers.
