Arlington invited to participate in Interfusion Festival

The annual Interfusion Festival – billed as a ‘Two-day Celebration of the Human spirit’ – will be coming in a couple of weeks.

The festival brings together communities and the arts with workshops, shows, dance socials, and artists. The dance socials will welcome everyone, including beginners and people with no partners.

The event will have over 30 workshops during the day. Some of the workshops on the schedule will be dance lessons in salsa, tango bachata, belly dancing, West Coast swing, and Latin. Non-dance workshops will include meditation, contact improv, and Thai massage. Eight of the workshops will introduce and cover techniques and dance tricks of ‘acroyoga’ (combination of acrobatics and yoga). The second day will also include laughter yoga, mindfulness, and improvisational dance.

The 10 festival performances will follow the workshops. These musical performances on the first night will include bachata, acroyoga, salsa, modern tango, and belly dancing. On the last evening there will be acroyoga, bachata, and mambo.

After the performances, the event will open up to a festival social, acroyoga jam, and dancing with six DJs and three dance floors. Photographers in Arlington may want to get some colorful action shots for later poster printing.

The event will be this Saturday and Sunday, August 6 and 7, starting at noon at The Dance Loft on 14 located at 4618 14th St. NW, Washington DC.
