Arlington harpist enthusiasts attend festival

Harpists and those who love the instrument will be attending the Virginia Harp Center Festival in late March.

The festival will bring artists from all over the world to teach workshops and performance classes and perform in live concerts.

Anneleen Lenaerts, a world renowned harpist, will conduct a Master Class, a class on Orchestra Repertoire and one on performing like a pro. She will also perform in the opening concert on Friday, March 20 at 8:00 pm.

Celtic harpist, Maeve Gilchrist, will instruct a Celtic Melodies workshop, an Improv for Dummies, and give an evening concert at 8:00 pm on Saturday, March 21.

Rhett Barnwell, known for his excellence in both Celtic and classic harp music, will present workshops in harp arranging and composing. Barnwell will also perform in the Grand Finale on Sunday, March 22nd at 3:00 pm.

Other artists in the festival will include the American Youth Philharmonic Harp Ensemble, Virginia Harp Center founder Mary Jane D’Arville, Robbin Gordon-Cartier and the Maryland Classic Youth Harp Ensemble.

Liza Jensen, a harp technician, will be available all weekend to book appointments for harp regulations. Guests who attend events such as this who may not wish to book right at that time usually get the technicians’ Business Cards so they can contact them at a later date.

The festival will be at the Hilton Arlington, 905 North Stafford Street.
