Arlington goes to Tinner Hill

The 26th Annual Tinner Hill Music Festival will be in Northern Virginia this month. Once a blues festival, the event has branched out to include other music genre that celebrates the African-American music heritage.

The George Mason High School’s Mason A Capella Club will start the lineup. They will be followed by Convertible Jerk – an R&R party band. Batala Washington – an Afro-Brazilian all-women Band, Moonshine Society - blues band, Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials and reggae legend-The Wailers’ Julian Marvin will take the stage during the afternoon. The evening’s entertainment will begin with Big Sam’s Funky Nation at 6:00 pm and Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds- a soul/rock band at 7:30 pm.

Four “villages” will be set up around the park. Artist Village will have photographers, painters and jewelers displaying and selling their original works. At events such as this, Arlington passers-by like to collect Business Cards from their favorite artists.

Food Village will host local restaurants selling everything from BBQ, Gator tail, and oysters to vegetarian options and kids’ fare.

Kid’s Village will include a Water Activity presented by the Kids First Swim School, Face Painting, Puppy Petting Zoo thanks to Lost Dog and Cat Rescue and Instrument Petting Zoo compliments of Foxes Music Company.

Relaxation Village will offer yoga–in-the-park, hammocks, and mini-massages.
