Arlington goes under the Big Top

The Big Apple Circus, celebrating its 40th Anniversary, will be coming to the area in a few weeks. This is the famous one-ring circus, with all seating within 50 feet of the action.

Two circus legendary high wire acts will be under one roof. The first will be The Fabulous Wallendas, headed by ‘King of the High Wire’ Nik Wallenda, performing the seven-person pyramid. The second will be the Flying Tunizianis attempting a quadruple somersault.

Clowns, a speed-daredevil-acrobatic roller skating duo, a contortionist, a master juggler, and acrobats will be some of the performers for the evening. Jenny Vidbel will perform with her 16 ponies and horses, along with her six rescue dogs.

One performance, called Circus for the Senses, is geared to vision, cognitive challenges, and hearing-impaired audiences. During this show there will be live music, circus arts and dance, in a multi-dimensional experience. Pre- and post-shows are interactive touch experiences for vision impaired guests.

Anyone in Arlington associated with local organizations that work with vision, hearing and cognitive challenges will want to get this information to them before February’s newsletter printing. Tickets for this performance must be purchased through the circus website.

The Big Apple Circus will come to National Harbor, 238 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, Oxon Hills and March 3, with performance through April 1. Circus of the Senses will be the Friday, March 9 show.
