Arlington area looks forward to annual Jazz festival

Arlington Jazz fans are surely anticipating the annual Rosslyn Jazz Fest coming in the first part of September.

Everyone is invited to enjoy blues, funk, soul, Caribbean and Jazz from nationally known artists at this free event. Over 10, 000 people are expected to attend.

Headlining this year will be Houston’s own the Suffers. This eight piece “neo-retro” ensemble plays a mix of musical styles from a variety of cultures that are current in the Houston area and along the Gulf Coast.

Other performers will include Cha Wa – a Mardi Gras Indian term meaning “we’re comin’ for ya” – will play music from New Orleans street culture. J’Wan Bodreaux – the grandson of the famous Monk Boudreaux- is the frontman for the group. Leyla McCalla who sings in Haitian Creole, French and English accompanies herself on tenor banjo, cello and guitar. The JoGo Project will also be on the agenda. This group plays a mix of Go-go and jazz that’s a little reminiscent of Chuck Brown.

Admirers of groups such as these often wear Promotional Products such as T-Shirts, visors and sweatshirts sporting the group to these events.

The venue will feature multiple bar areas and local food trucks.

Rosslyn Jazz Festival will take place September 7th from 1:00 am until 7:00 pm at Gateway Park, 1300 Lee Highway, in Rosslyn.
