Argentina comes to Arlington

The 30th Argentine Festival in the United States will be coming to the city in mid-May.

The event will celebrate Argentina’s May Revolution of 1810, and the whole family is invited to this unique cultural event.

Tango, pop, rock, dance and folk music from local musicians will be heard, along with music from artists of an Argentine or Latin American background. This event will also provide an outlet for advancing the careers of talented Argentine and Latin American underprivileged and amateur local artists.

Expositions and displays around the venue will be demonstrating many Argentine cultural traditions. Exhibitors will be offering products and merchandize from South America, and there will be plenty of gourmet Argentine food for purchase.

School 1 of Mar del Plata will be one the recipients of the proceeds from this year’s festivities. A group of students from the school may want to get some pictures of themselves at the event for later poster printing for their school to display. Some of the proceeds will also be going to the social organization ‘Help Argentina’.

The festival will be at the Thomas Jefferson Theatre, 125 South Glebe Road, Arlington from 4:00 pm until 10:30 pm, on Saturday, May 13. The main show will start at 5:50 pm and will go until 10:30 pm. The event will take place rain or shine.
