Educational center in Dayton receives special award
StriveTogether has presented Tom Lasley with the Bill Henningsgaard Cradle to Career Champion award. Lasley is the founder, director of policy, and CEO emeritus at Learn to Earn Dayton.
This award focuses on the intellectual capital needed by Montgomery County and the city of Dayton to meet workplace demands for the present, as well as for the future and next-generation jobs. The award is named in memory of a youth advocate in Washington state and presented each year to a member of the StriveTogether Cradle to Career Network who embodies the commitment, passion, and persistence which was modeled by Henningsgaard.
Poster printing is often used to announce the recipients of such awards and recognition.
Lasley founded Learn to Earn Dayton after serving as dean of education at the University of Dayton. The goal of Learn to Earn is to increase the number of adults in the county who have a credential or college degree to 60% of the population. Lasley expressed his pride in the program in Dayton as it is one of three such establishments in the country to receive this StriveTogether designation.
CEO of Learn to Earn Dayton, Stacy Wall Schweikhart, nominated Lasley for the award and said that Lasley has dedicated his career to being a respected and recognized champion for students in the state and across the country.
