The Parks and Recreation Department and the city's Chamber of Commerce are co-hosting the event at the community center from 10:30 am to 12:45 pm. A game of bingo will start the festivities with multiple opportunities to win a prize. Registration is required by June 21, as there is a limited amount of space.
Enrollment for Maryland Heights Citizens Academy, previously Maryland Heights University, starts on July 8. The course lasts for five weeks and students will learn the basics of the local government including planning and zoning, finance and budgeting, parks and recreation, economic development, police, and public works. The limit on students for the class is 25. Class will usually meet at the Government Center's Municipal Courtroom, but some classes will take place at other city locations.
On July 13, at Government Center, Midwest Recycling Center will allow residents to recycle unwanted and broken electronics from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.
