Measuring 90,000 square feet (twice the area of the present community center), the new facility will be located on McKelvey Road, and will cost approximately $30m.
According to a notice on the City of Maryland Heights website, Maryland Heights Centre, which is the existing community center, can no longer fit the growing need for more programs and the cost of renovating would make it an illogical choice. Current programs there will be available at the new center, along with more space for such facilities as gyms, a fitness center, exercise rooms, a lap pool, and a jogging track. There will be areas for preschool and seniors to make their own, and improved parking provisions.

This new facility will be a great asset to our city and enable us to continue providing high-quality parks and recreation programming for decades to come.”
