White Plain, New York-based Bunge Limited is moving its world headquarters to St. Louis County.
Bunge Limited manufactures agriculture technology and operates in 40 countries with 32,000 employees. At the current global headquarters, there are 180 employees.
The company moved its headquarters for North America to St. Louis from New York 19 years ago. This move was to be in a closer vicinity of the production facilities and elevators.
In 2016, the headquarters relocated from the Maryland Heights property to one in Chesterfield. At that time, it was reported that the company had more than 500 employees. Its goal was to have an addition 160 employees in the next ten years.
According to a company report, 750 people can work at the Chesterfield location and 525 people work there currently. There are no reports on if the workforce in the building will grow with the relocation of the global headquarters. Sam Page, executive of St. Louis County, expressed his excitement to relocate because the move highlights the area's increasing international reputation in agricultural technology.
CEO of Bunge Gregory A. Heckman said the area is the central of Bunge's operations in North America but also has many clients and organizations in the industries of agriculture, food, plant science, and animal health.
The company's world headquarters should be where the company is well known to create an efficient and modernized business system. Bunge is expected to have new global headquarters in 2020.
