Missouri Polar Plunge will send shivers through the community

The annual Maryland Heights Polar Plunge will take place at Creve Coeur Lake.

This is the 14th year of the event in which daring local women and men put on their bathing suits and enter the lake during the cold temperatures for charity. This year, the plunge will benefit the Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO). More than 7,500 St. Louis area athletes will receive an education, training, and health examinations.

Individuals over the age of nine are welcome to participate and have fun while supporting a charity. Participants must wear shoes and wetsuits are not permitted.

The Hazelwood and Maryland Heights police departments are hosting the Polar Plunge. Creve Coeur Lake is located at 13725 Marine Avenue.

Many participants wear costumes. Participants can win awards for raising the most money as an individual, police officer, group, and school. Individuals and groups will also receive Golden Plunger awards for the best costumes.

Participants can register online on the SOMO website, which is the easiest and fastest way to do so. Participants can also register on paper at the office. Everyone who registers gets a shirt and the reputation for completing the challenge.

The plunge is on February 29 at 1:00 pm. Registration on the day starts at noon. Charities often use Promotional Products to advertise their organization and encourage people to donate or participate in their cause through events.
