Maryland Heights to raise awareness for ALD

Knockout ALD will hold an event in Maryland Heights to support those impacted by adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD).

Run for ALD, Cure the Boys is an annual fundraising activity where people can compete in races while helping boys living with this disease. All money from the race will go to the University of Minnesota's Leukodystrophy Center for ALD Research. The funds will help researchers develop more effective treatment options and assist with the early identification of the disease. The event will be at Creve Coeur Park and consists of a 5K race and a one-mile walk.

Participants in the fundraiser have helped Knockout ALD raise more than $1,000 for its cause. Those who wish to support the non-profit can create a fundraising team or donate individually to the organization. People can also volunteer at the group’s event or become blood stem cell donors. Companies may combat ALD by becoming a sponsor for the race. The sponsorship levels range from $250 to $2,000 and include benefits such as having the sponsor’s logo displayed on the run’s website.

The fundraising race will take place on Saturday, November 19 and will begin at 9:00 am. The cost is $25 per person, though prices will increase as the run approaches. Those who register by October 18th will be guaranteed a shirt. Organizations that hold fundraisers like this may add their Logo Design to the tees they create for the event.
