Maryland Heights promotes athlete education

Health and fitness is the theme for multiple upcoming events at a Maryland Heights ice arena.

The Greg Holthaus Memorial Fund and the AAA Hockey organization for the St. Louis Blues will host a cardio health check for teens and young adults playing hockey. Eligible participants are those between the ages of 12 and 22 living in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area.

Players must register for one of the 120 available timeslots. There will be raffles for prize baskets the day before and the days of the screenings. For more information or to register, go to the MCOR Athletes website. Interested parties can also contact Gwenn Buesching by email at gwennbuesching3@gmail.com or by calling 314-605-0898.

Also, EXOS Mercy Sports Performance is hosting a seminar on strength programming. Lasting four hours, it is geared toward coaches and fitness professionals who want to build athlete strength more efficiently.

Participants will learn the fundamental structure of muscle development and support. This will enable them to create a custom routine for both teams and individual athletes.

Both events will be at the Centene Community Ice Center at 750 Casino Center Drive. Screenings for heart health will be on February 13 and 14 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The seminar on building strength goes from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm on February 20.

With completion of classes being valuable to athletes, the resultant paperwork may require distinct Letterheads for officials to ascertain its authenticity.
