G-cycling in Maryland Heights

The city of Maryland Heights is hosting an event for recycling electronics.

Midwest Recycling Center is working with the city to provide this service. The company is accredited in recycling in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. In order to maintain social distancing, participants should remain inside their vehicles. They are encouraged to let employees remove the recyclable items from their cars and pay through the driver side window. MRC employees will don masks and gloves and ask residents to wear a mask when interacting with them.

The Government Center, where residents can drop off their items for recycling, is located at 11911 Dorsett Road. Due to traffic concerns, drivers must enter from Dorsett Road and exit onto Millwell. Businesses are prohibited from participating. This event is restricted to residents.

Most electronic items can be recycled at this event for no charge except CRT televisions, computer monitors, and electronics containing freon. Fees are payable by cash or check and range from $5-$50 per item. Items which have a fee by weight to recycle, such as magnetic media storage and alkaline batteries, must be recycled at the city’s normal drop-off locations.

Electronic recycling is on October 24 from 9am to 1pm. Attendees must pre-register and can do so by phone at (314) 738-2240 or on their EventBrite listing.

Flyer printing and posting in government buildings helps the city advertise free services to residents.
