The Open Space Council is inviting volunteers to assist with their cleanup efforts in November at a local outdoor space in Maryland Heights.
The Creve Coeur Lake Honeysuckle Hack is an event where community members can assist the Open Space Council with removing unwanted plants from the Creve Coeur Park Soccer Complex. The volunteer workday is a part of the Community Stewardship Alliance, which is a program dedicated to maintaining natural areas in local parks. Tools for the activity and work gloves will be provided to all attendees by the event organizers.
The Open Space Council is a charitable group interested in conserving and sustaining land throughout the community and making sure the areas are used responsibly. The organization helps maintain local waterways to ensure their beauty and functionality can be enjoyed by future generations. The group also organizes tree-planting activities. Those who are part of environmentally friendly groups like this may promote their causes with flyer printing.
The honeysuckle removal will take place on Saturday, November 20th from 8:45 am to noon. Volunteers who have not been wholly vaccinated will be asked to put on a face mask in areas without social distancing. Any volunteers who have gotten both doses of their vaccination and waited two weeks are allowed to partake in the event without wearing a mask or following social distancing guidelines.
