Cancer charity to hold outdoor event in Maryland Heights

Friends of Kids with Cancer will be organizing a community race and walk in Maryland Heights at Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park.

Walk with a Friend is an annual event that honors the strength and love of families impacted by cancer. People can enter a one-mile walk or a 5K run. Many snacks will be served at the event for attendees, such as snow cones and popcorn. Children can enjoy activities like jumping inside bounce houses or getting their faces painted. Attendees may bring lawn chairs to the venue, and those with well-behaved dogs may bring their pets to the event.

Friends of Kids with Cancer is a group founded by Jill Turec, Molly Henry, and Suzie Snowden in 1992. The organization serves those in the St. Louis community by offering programs to families to help them overcome the struggles of cancer. Companies interested in supporting the charity can sponsor the Walk with a Friend event. Stores that become sponsors can have their Logo Design placed on the event’s commemorative shirt and be mentioned in the organization’s newsletter.

The walk and 5K will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 9:00 am. The cost to participate in the event is $35. People can also choose to participate virtually in Walk with a Friend for $35. Prices will increase after March 24.
