Local college near Seekonk to offer cooking classes
A series of introductory cooking classes have been launched by Johnson and Wales University (JWU) in Providence. These may be of interest to those in nearby Seekonk.
These classes are set up to be interactive, hands-on, and inspiring and are led by chef instructors from the university. The dean of the College of Food Innovation and Technology, Jason Evans, said that JWU Kitchen Academy will be the new hub of all culinary programs offered externally at the college, and is a way for the university to open its doors and, in his words:
The classes will take place at the Cuisinart Center for Culinary Excellence. Upcoming classes include a beginner course on Soups and Stocks, where students learn how to make these items from scratch. This will be on Saturday, September 27 from 9:00 am until noon. Baking a collection of fall artisan breads will be a two-day class on Saturday, October 11 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Sunday, October 12 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. A beginner course on one-pot meals will be from 9:00 am to noon on Saturday, October 25.
Local print shops can help spread the word about such classes with flyers and mailers that can be sent out to those in the region.
