Transit agency to expand door-to-door service to Natick
The MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA) is set to expand the on-demand service of the agency to Natick and Framingham.
Thanks to a $400,000 grant from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, MWTRA will now be able to expand the CatchConnect service to the major shopping spaces in the area and to apartment buildings and offices as well due to the funds from the grant. Service will also be made available on Sundays. Such agencies often use brochure printing to provide more details about routes, availability, and hours of operation.
CatchConnect is a transit system offering curb-to-curb service and the most flexibility for its riders. When they are ready to travel, customers can book rides and the service is provided on a first come first served basis. However, the service is now available at the Natick Community Center and in Wellesley, at the Waban Green Line station the Woodland Green Line station, and at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
To use the service, riders download the CatchConnect app to their phone. They provide their current location and where they plan to ride to. A vehicle, like a rideshare car, is then sent by the MWRTA to their location. Currently there is no charge for the service. A promotional credit of $3.00 will be given to riders when they sign up, which can be used the collection of fares has resumed.
