Local nursery readies for spring
Kerby’s Nursery, less than three miles from Brandon, is preparing for spring with seminars and workshops over the coming Saturdays.
This Saturday, February 12, a Valentine workshop will demonstrate how to create a perfect-gift-giving flower arrangement and attendees will then create their own. The cost will be $25.
The following Saturday, February 19, the nursery will turn its attention to vegetables as it presents Veggie Gardening in Florida. Guests will be given some tips on how to create a successful vegetable garden and how to avoid some common mistakes.
For those who have recently moved to the area, there will be a special New to Florida Gardening seminar on February 26. The presentation will address some of the unique challenges gardeners face here in Florida and how to overcome many of our state’s gardening quirks.
On March 5 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Kerby’s will celebrate its 42nd birthday with a day filled with gift-card giveaways, mini-seminars every hour, and a food truck.
Simple landscape design will be the focus on March 12. The seminar will cover basic principles and tricks for creating easy, quick, and beautiful landscapes.
For homeowners trying to figure out what to do with those shady spots in the lawn, there will be a talk on Classic Shrubs for Shade given on March 26. Azaleas, camellias, and gardenias, the trifecta of shade classic shrubs, will be discussed.
Any nursery’s brochure printing usually uses colorful shots of the venue during spring.
Kerby’s Nursery is located at 2311 S. Parsons Avenue, Seffner. All these upcoming programs will begin at 10:00 am.
