Florida State Fair opens soon
Brandon families may want to mark their calendars for the Florida State Fair, which will be opening next week. The annual event will have the largest midway in America, livestock judging, free entertainment, and plenty of food vendors.
Free entertainment will include the Sea Lion Splash, Weld’s Big Bear show, racing pigs, K-9s in flight, the Giraffe Exotic Menagerie, and the Florida Learning Garden.
Other crowd pleasers will be the Florida State Fair Cheer and Dance, the Sunshine State Jack Russell Terrier Races, the Championship Tractor Pull, and the Florida State Fair Ranch Rodeo. Crowds will also get to see draft horse pulls, lawnmower races, and the VEX Robotic Championships.
The midway will offer 120 rides that range from the family favorites such as the tilt-a-whirl, merry-go-round, and 90-foot Ferris wheel, to the more daring Light House Dive, Cliff Hanger, and Fire Ball. A Kiddie Land will have Brandon little ones riding in their own trains, planes, cars, and submarines.
Fun food will range from the standard fare such as hotdogs, cotton candy, and kettle corn to the more exotic White Cheddar and Bacon Pretzel Dog, Steak Sundae, and the jalapeno poppers and bacon filled Florida Firecracker.
The Fair opens February 9 and will go until February 20 at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. Highway 301 North Tampa. Gates will open at 10:00 am Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 am on President’s Day and Fridays through Sundays.
