Brandon ocean lovers to celebrate Shark-Con
For those here in Brandon who love the ocean and all things pertaining to it, the short distance to Tampa may well be worth the time in order to attend Shark-Con. This event will be in a couple of weeks.
The Florida Aquarium will sponsor a large interactive exhibit full of trivia, games and a sand dig for shark teeth. Sea World is contributing an exhibit containing games, touch tanks, a shark, and conservation information. An exhibit about marine mammal rescue and other touch tanks will be displayed by the Clearwater Aquarium. Back this year will be the octopus bounce house and the 22-foot shark slide for the kids. The DEMA Be A Diver Pool will give those who have always wanted to try scuba diving a chance to do so.
Over 30 activities will be available and free for the kids such as Peppermint Narwhal’s “How to draw a Shark” and Shark trivia by Dr. Ellen Prager.
Fifteen speakers will be available for photo opportunities and autographs after their presentations. Over 100 vendors will be selling shark and ocean-related items. Some booths will be manned by ocean conservationists who will be passing out flyers.
Shark-Con will be at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. Highway 301 North, Tampa July 9th from 9 am until 5 pm and July 10th from 10 am until 5 pm.
