Brandon gets ready for Florida State Fair
Many people here in Brandon are getting ready for 12 days of entertainment, food, and competition when the Florida State Fair comes at the end of April and beginning of May.
Considered Florida’s Fried Food Capital, the fair will offer plenty of baked, smoked, grilled, and deep-fried treats from pickle pizza, peanut butter and spicy jelly tater tots, and Cheetos funnel cakes, to gelato nachos, blueberry and cream donuts, deep-fried rainbow cookies, and deep-fried molten lava cake.
Live entertainment will include the Fire Guy, Daredevil Daze 2.0, the Lumberjack Show, Gascar Crazy Animal Races, and Demolition Derby. The Hollywood Circus will bring back all the circus traditions as well as provide modern and unique acts.
Music groups such as All Fired Up, Dollipops, Divas Through the Decades, and the Society Funk Band will be giving three performances daily.
Attendees will have choices of 85 rides. These include the traditional Balloon Fiesta Ferris Wheel, roller coasters, and zipper; kids’ rides such as Bumble Bee, Flying Dumbos, Berry Go-Round, and Granny Bugs; and more daring ones like Air Raid, Super Himalaya, and Swamp Gator.
Exhibitions will include Ag-Venture, Creative Living, Giraffic Menagerie, Agriculture Hall of Fame, fish, wildlife, forest, and garden.
