Brandon celebrates St. Paddys Day
The Shamrock Classic 10K/5K/1 Mile Fun Run will be one way for Brandon to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year.
Runners/walkers and strollers are invited to join in the 5K and 10K starting at 8:00 am and the 1 mile fun run at 9:30 am. The course will be a 1.5 mile fast, flat, out and back on South Kings Avenue. Participants are encouraged to wear St. Patrick’s Day-themed attire.
Finishers in the 5K and 10K will receive medals, while the 1-mile finishers will receive ribbons.
Registration for the 5K ($30) and 10K ($35) runs will include chipped bibs and gender specific race shirts sporting the event’s graphic design. The one-miler tickets will cost $5 but shirts are not included. Racer packets may be picked up on race day at O’Brien’s Irish Pub’s outside patio, or from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm inside the pub the day before.
The Shamrock Classic will take place March 14 at O’Brien’s Irish Pub, 701 Lumsden Road.
For those celebrants more into the slower-paced events, the Shamrock River Festival will be on the same Saturday, March 14. The venue will have food vendors, some selling Irish fare, and local businesses selling a wide array of original handmade items, art, jewelry, home décor, plants, Irish treasures, and collectables. Again, everyone is invited to wear green.
The Shamrock River Festival will be at Water Works Park Tampa, 1710 N. Highland Avenue, Tampa.
