Brandon area to engage the mind with September workout
Wanderlust 108, the only mindful triathlon in the world, is coming to Tampa in September.
The event is billed as a field day for the body, mind, and soul. It is considered a day of community unity, inner peace, and self-awareness.
The day will start off with a pre-run stretch followed by a 5K that may be a strenuous running event for some, or just as leisurely stroll for others. The object here is to get to the finish line.
Yoga will come next, combined with dance. This will be followed by a yoga session of 75 minutes underscored by Rina Jakubowicz. A guided 30-minute meditation will follow.
A Kula Market will offer organic food, local crafts, jewelry, and yoga gear. Attendees will be able to sign up for one bonus activity. This may include acroyoga (a combination of acrobatics and yoga), hula hooping, tribal marking, slacking (a moving meditation), or AiReal yoga. Organizers warn attendees to sign-up quickly because these are expected to fill up fast.
New this year is ‘Rally Your Tribe’, in which active-minded folk from Brandon are encouraged gee up their friends and sign up as a group. Pictures taken of the group during the event will make great memories for later holiday cards or postcard printing.
The event will be Sunday, September 25 starting at 7:45 am at Curtis Hixon Park, 600 N. Ashley Drive, Tampa.
