Shakespeare to light up Wilmington
The 2021 Summer Festival, presented by Delaware Shakespeare, is coming to the area.
A “Triple Bard” will be presented this year, welcoming the summer festival back to Wilmington.
Kicking off the events, the Midsummer Mix Tape is a Merchant of Venice-themed salute to music with original songs. Tunes are featured by Michael Hahn, Joe Trainor, Emily Schuman, and Liz Filios. This highly anticipated play will take place July 16 to 18, 24 to 25, and July 31 to August 1.
Rosalind X 3 is a look at the iconic heroine from Shakespeare’s As You Like it. The character will be examined through different lenses on a cultural basis by the directors and actors. The production will be part discussion and part performance as they explore the biggest female role written by Shakespeare. It is scheduled for July 22 and 29.
Appearing July 23 and 30, audiences can be inspired by Shakespearean creations through poetry, metaphor, and rhythm, with The Tempest as the theme. Anthem is producing and hosting this segment.
